“We want to create a world class science center that will inspire children in the sciences, enable our adults to navigate the 21st century, and we’ll do all this through the lens of the Ozarks, our people, our culture, our innovations.” – John Lewis, former president, Northwest Arkansas Museum Foundation (1939-2007)

Welcome to the Northwest Arkansas Museum Foundation. Our vision is to bring a world-class science museum to the region. We invite you to be a part of our process, review our progress and comment on our plans. Underway since 2004, we are following a systematic roadmap to build a scientifically inspiring, financially sound and environmentally sustainable organization housed in state-of-the-art facilities.

This museum will be responsive to the community, showcase the region’s strengths and engage students and adults alike in the sciences as a way of building the regional economy through developing its workforce. We’ve developed a concept for a museum that partners with the community and combines several popular museum attributes into one. The museum will feature:

• Traveling exhibits,

• Learning and research centers,

• Web programs,

• Themed galleries, and

• Learning pods for young children and toddlers to enjoy their first experience with science.

You won’t just see science exhibits – you will be immersed in cutting-edge scientific discovery through live science forums and citizen science projects. Delta Exhibits, or exhibits designed to evolve over time, will entice you to be an active participant in the scientific community, working with real scientists and research students in countless fields to perform real and meaningful experiments. The people and the cultures of the Ozarks, our history and our innovations will be an integral component of the museum.

We’ve sprung into action, and invite you to do the same. Catch the vision!
